Pack a picnic and head to Lake Tapps - less than 4 miles away! This popular swimming and boat launch area is located on the north side of Lake Tapps. A largely undeveloped 135 acre site with approximately 10,000 feet of waterfront access including a sandy swimming area. North Lake Tapps County Park offers spectacular views of Mount Rainier to the south and is a great place for kids and adults to swim. The park has several amenities that include, barbeque grills, beach access, a boat ramp, picnic tables, trails, rest rooms and a seasonal concession stand. There’s also the Allan Yorke Park on the opposite side of the lake, as well as the Tapps Island Golf Course and the newly opened Island Lodge that offers deck seating, overlooks the water and has stellar mountain views.
The new Sumner Link Trail offers the chance to experience the Valley along the White River including river views, wildlife and native vegetation as well as agriculture and industry. Linking to the Interurban Trail and Lakeland Hills Trail on the north and the Foothills Trail and Riverwalk Trail to the south, this is also a great commute option.
Another popular local hot spot in Bonney Lake is Trapper’s Sushi, partly due to their all-you-can-eat sushi deal, but also because everything is fresh and delicious. They have your standard rolls, nigiri and some specialty rolls you won’t find anywhere else. The Blue Thunder is a nod to the Seahawks drumline - filled with spicy crab, cucumber and shrimp to mellow out the spice and topped with avocado, lemon slices and a blue masago. It’s definitely one of the most eye catching rolls on their menu with the many pops of color.
