“We will miss bonfires in the backyard, our resident hummingbirds, and movie nights with the family in the amazing theater set up in the basement! We also will miss being able to have our kids run in and out of the house playing while we prepared dinner or did dishes. One of the biggest things we’ll miss is the tankless water heater. Our kids could take a bath while dishes were run and laundry was in. It was amazing!”

“We have lots of yummy things growing in the backyard! Blueberries and strawberries were a

highlight of the summer and the kids loved picking them and eating them straight off the plant. We were very excited to see the 3 baby trees we planted grow up and know they will provide a nice shade cover for the yard.”

“The Tacoma Nature Center is a hidden gem!!!! We loved the park and nature trail. Not many places in Tacoma allow you to be within walking distance from Target, Walmart, Fred Meyer while also letting you slip away to nature and really feel like you’ve escaped the city. We also loved being under 10 minutes away from work and school. No matter where your friends live, you’ll have a meeting place in the middle, which is super cool.”

“When dining out nearby we like going to Mandolin Sushi. It has the best yakisoba! Our 3 year old would fight us to finish it :) We also loved walking and getting a milkshake treat at Flipping Out.”

Take advantage of all the delicious lunch specials at Mandolin Sushi & Steakhouse or enjoy a fancy evening dining on their hibachi dinner and sushi. If you’re looking for something low key and quick, Flipping Out Burgers is across the street and offers a variety of burgers made in house, chicken strips, chili cheese dog, fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, a yummy house made dipping sauce and creamy milkshakes.

1.5 miles away is the Tacoma Nature Center (currently closed), along with Snake Lake Park - a 71-acre tract of wetlands & forest around Snake Lake, featuring trails & a visitors center. Check their website if you’re looking for nature events and exploring.

For local sporting events, Cheney Stadium is less than 3 miles away and is not only home to the beloved Tacoma Rainiers Minor League Baseball team, but is now also home to Sounders FC2 and OL Reign soccer franchise.

Enjoy the fresh air and a round of golf at the Allenmore Golf Course - yes it is back open again! This 18-hole, meticulously maintained course sits in the heart of Tacoma. Only four people are allowed per group, reservations must be made and paid for in advance, and a handful of other policies have been put in place during this time to keep everyone safe. Please visit their website for changes and updates.

The clubhouse is closed at the golf course right now, so if you’ve looking for a place to grab a bite to eat afterwards, we recommend Burger Seoul, a Korean burger food truck just a couple blocks away on S. 19th Street.
