LIVING IN THE NORTH SLOPE HISTORIC DISTRICT

Life everywhere looks and feels a little different right now, but we still want to share a little bit about what makes this location special.

One of the great things about the North Slope Historic District is that it’s just minutes from downtown Tacoma and the Stadium district. Many North Enders shop for groceries and essentials at Stadium Thriftway. Even closer yet is the neighborhood corner store, Dave’s Meat and Produce. (You’ll be visiting regularly when it’s time to break out your barbecue, their marinated meats are amazing). The neighborhood also has a website full of valuable details on the historic designation: http://tacomanorthslope.org/

From here you’re also close to the Ruston Way Waterfront, which has a little bit of sandy beach and some beautiful views from the Old Town Dock. Be forewarned, it’s a steep hill to ride down, and an even steeper one to come back up! But few will argue that the views along the way aren’t worth it.

NOTES FROM THE SELLER

Some of the things I will miss about this home include: “the big windows that let in all the sunlight. Hearing the birds in the spring. Our peaceful Neighborhood. Parks, restaurants, schools, easy access to the freeway, the proximity to the Metropolitan Market and Safeway.” - when asked what they’ll miss about the home and the location.

One of the great things about this location is that it’s central to so many business districts! The Sellers said a few of their favorites were: En Rama, Primo Grill and Indo Asian Eatery.

If you’ve never been, En Rama is a delightful cocktail lounge located inside the main floor of the Courthouse Square! If you’re craving great food and fancy drinks, this is the place to go. We can’t wait until we’re able to sip with them again! When 6th Ave reopens, you can have a chill date night or meetup with friends for happy hour at Primo Grill. The chefs there work with local farmers to craft their Mediterranean cuisine, so you’re always dining on the freshest ingredients. Enjoy steaks, pastas and applewood-fired pizzas.

One of the Seller’s faves remains open for takeout, and that’s: Indo Asian Street Eatery They have all sorts of yummy street snacks like fresh spring rolls, egg rolls, fritters, hot wings and togarashi fried calamari that’s perfect for sharing. If you’re just looking for a quick burger, swing by Frisko Freeze - a Tacoma landmark, quick-serve spot, with retro style & a choice of drive-thru or walk-up ordering.

MORE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY

Wright Park is very popular in the summer months as it has a free sprayground, playground and plenty of picnic tables. This 27-acre arboretum is home to a rich collection of more than 600 trees - stunning in both the spring & summer when they’re ample and bright green, and impressive in the fall as they change from green to all the fall colors. WW Seymour Conservatory is not currently open, but this community treasure hosts events throughout the year and a rotating assortment of seasonal flowers.

This location is also close to 6th Avenue where MSM Deli has just opened a takeout window (one bite and you’ll know why they’re called ‘Magical Sandwich Makers’!) You can also drive through “It’s Greek To Me” which has been offering some amazing dinner specials.
