THE STADIUM DISTRICT

You can’t beat this location - walk out the door and you have a beautiful slice of of the water! Also, you’re situated right next to Stadium High School, such amazing history right in our backyard! Everything you need is a 5-10 minute walk, including the dry cleaner, auto repair, the bank, groceries and more! Sometimes I’ll go an entire weekend without getting in my car. Being able to jump on the freeway in 3 minutes is very helpful for anyone who is commuting.

The Stadium District neighborhood is the type of neighborhood that you see in the movies! It’s just a good old fashioned neighborhood. Walking around you’ll see kids on their skateboards, families leaving “Shake, Shake, Shake” with a bag full of burgers and fries! I enjoy just walking up and down the streets and looking at the old homes in the neighborhood. Every year, we walk down to The Grand Cinema for the Tacoma Film Festival (coming up - October 3rd through 10th). So much to do in this neighborhood!

When dining out, here’s their recommendations - “Indo Asian Street Eatery, you have to try their fried rice or their Chinese egg rolls. They surprisingly have great cocktails! I recommend “Mr. Lee’s Old Fashioned”! On the weekends, you have to get brunch from Art House Cafe - I’m a fan of everything on their menu, so good!”

Wright Park is ideal for a leisurely stroll or a quick jog, and is very popular in the summer months as it has a free sprayground, playground and plenty of picnic tables. This 27 acre arboretum is home to a rich collection of more than 600 trees - stunning in both the spring & summer when they’re ample and bright green, and impressive in the fall as they change from green to a deep orange and red during the autumn foliage.

Get your caffeine fix at family owned Tacoma Java or step into Anthem Coffee & Tea (in their newly opened location) for an affogato or perfectly steeped loose leaf tea. Get fresh and quality foods, deli items and beautiful floral arrangements from Stadium Thriftway.

The city is currently working on an expansion plan for the Tacoma Light Rail, with construction finalizing in 2022. This project will more than double the current length of the 1.6 mile line ending at the Tacoma Dome Station and will reach new destinations like the Old City Hall, the Stadium District, Wright Park and the Hilltop communities. If you commute north and want to skip driving you can catch the Sounder Train at the Tacoma Dome Station northbound to Seattle – it’s convenient, cheap (about $5 to ride) and less of a hassle than sitting in I-5 traffic for events or commuting!
