EAST TACOMA SINGLE LEVEL HOME

Single-level rambler in convenient location. Fresh paint and many updates in 2014 including roof, water heater and appliances. Well appointed kitchen with a large eat-in space opens onto a private patio. Enjoy apple & pear trees this Summer in the large, fenced backyard, or pick blueberries down the street at Charlotte’s 10-acre Blueberry Park. Strolling distance to popular eateries like Tibbett’s Fern Hill & Little Jerry’s, not to mention the grocery store, pharmacy and park.

In just 5 months, you’ll be able to have very close access to the most fresh and organic blueberries at Charlotte’s Blueberry Park - nearly across the street! Here you’ll find more than 3,372 bushes, representing five varieties of blueberries. Picking season typically runs from July through September each year and is free to the community to pick.

FERNHILL NEIGHBORHOOD: WHAT’S NEARBY?

If you’re looking for a special spot to dine out, look no further than Tibbits at Fern Hill! This quaint, little spot is highly rated (more than 400 5 star reviews on Yelp and counting!) and there’s a reason why. There are only 9 tables in this establishment so you’ll need a reservation to give it a try, but it’s worth the wait when you finally get to savor the apple cinnamon french toast, the lobster bomb, sandwiches and salads, pancakes that look like they’re being served to royalty and other tasty things smothered in gravy. The owner, Shawn Tibbits is more than just cooking amazing food though, he also gives back to the community. Not only does he help feed people in need, but last year he threw a party to wrap 400 gifts for low-income children and the dozens in the community showed up to help.

If you enjoy Seinfeld, then this next spot is definitely for you! Little Jerry’s is another highly rated spot serving up breakfast and burgers, while paying homage to one of the best sitcoms ever. The interior is full of tributes to the show (like Jerry’s puffy shirt), menu items are named after episodes and reruns play on a TV for you to enjoy. Just don’t ever step out of line or it’s “no soup for you!”

Grocery shopping is never more than a few minutes away - both Fred Meyer and Safeway are just a mile away. Tortilleria El Jalapeño is close by too for fresh flour tortillas, homemade salsas, Mexican bread, tamales, lots of dried chilies and spices, produce and other specialty items to make authentic Mexican dishes at home.

Schools in this district include Fawcett Elementary, Stewart Junior High and the historic Lincoln High School - named after Abraham Lincoln. You can’t miss the giant statue of the sixteenth President of the United States in front of the school entrance and the beautiful brick structure.
