ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD & WHERE TO ORDER TAKEOUT
With the Stay At Home order in place, there isn’t much to see and do at the moment, but we wanted to share with you what’s around this Lakeland Hills neighborhood, so you’ll know what to explore when we can all enjoy the outdoors again!
Near the home are a couple of trails that run along the edge of Lake Tapps - and if you’d like to enjoy more of the lake this summer, it’s less than 4 miles away! The popular swimming and boat launch area is located on the north side of Lake Tapps. A largely undeveloped 135 acre site with approximately 10,000 feet of waterfront access including a sandy swimming area. North Lake Tapps County Park offers spectacular views of Mount Rainier to the south and is a great place for kids and adults to swim. The park has several amenities that include, barbeque grills, beach access, a boat ramp, picnic tables, trails, rest rooms and a seasonal concession stand. There’s also the Allan Yorke Park on the opposite side of the lake, as well as the Tapps Island Golf Course and the new Island Lodge that offers deck seating, overlooks the water and has stellar mountain views.
If you’re looking for a place close by to do some outdoor social distancing, on the outskirts of this neighborhood is the Vista Ridge Trail. It’s a 2.8 mile loop trail that offers scenic views. Dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash.
All of the non essential business in the Lakeland Towne Center are closed during this time, but the Haggen Food & Pharmacy is still open for groceries, essentials and medication and the UPS store is continuing with shipping and delivery. As far as dining out goes, here are the restaurants close by that are offering takeout and delivery - MOD Pizza, Stack 571 Burger and Whiskey Bar, The Rock, Puerto Vallarta, Hops N Drops and Legendary Doughnuts. The Starbucks in this location is temporarily closed right now.
Also close by is the Wild Waves Theme Park - opening day is on pause for the time being, but you can always check their website for updates.
The White River Amphitheatre is closed right now too. But it’s a great spot to listen to outdoor shows and is only 11 miles away. Shows currently scheduled for this summer include Halsey, Alanis Morissette, Steely Dan with Steve Winwood, Hall & Oates, Bob Dylan, Chris Young, The Black Keys, Incubus, KZOK Summer Rock Party, Europe, and more throughout July through September.
