Gig Harbor is small town turned growing city with a rich maritime history. Some of the most popular community events happen on or near the water, from the Blessing of the Fleet, to the Holiday Boat Parade. Here’s a fun list of outdoor activities you can look forward to once you move here! With the Stay At Home order in place, there isn’t much open at the moment, but we wanted to share with you what’s around this Magnolia Heights neighborhood, so you’ll know what to explore when we can all enjoy the outdoors again! First and foremost, this home is just blocks from beach access & a boat ramp. This is the perfect spot to drop a kayak in and practice some serious social distancing. Expect magnificent sunsets and brushes with wildlife. This section of Point Fosdick is quieter, so you’ll often see joggers & walkers, especially during these times. It’s also worth noting that the Cushman Trailhead is only 6 minutes away. Maintaining safe distancing is more manageable on this 6.2 mile trail since there’s 16 ft wide paving along it, with gravel shoulders.
If you’re in need of groceries or medical care, Uptown Gig Harbor is 3 miles away. Here you can find an abundance of dining and shopping like, Moctezuma’s Mexican Restaurant, which is currently offering takeout. And not just any ‘ol takeout, they’ve been offering different margaritas of the week, so you’ll never miss happy hour! If you’re looking for other delivery options Blazing Onion Burger, Pizzeria Fondi, Cutters Point Coffee, and Blue Agave Mexican Grill and Panera are offering take out too. Fred Meyer, Harbor Greens and Safeway are all open, and just about 5 minutes away. Check for store hours as they change. If you need to see a doctor there’s a Franciscan Prompt Care and the MultiCare Urgent Care.
For those that need to commute by car, this home is just minutes from the Narrows Bridge. Downtown Tacoma is 12 miles away and Seattle is 43 miles away. If you prefer an elevated commute, or are an aviation enthusiast, the Tacoma Narrows Airport is just minutes away. They offer aircraft and maintenance, storage and parking, fuel, charter and business flights and training. Plenty of us have parked there just to watch planes takeoff and land too!
