Red Elm Cafe - owned and operated by three sisters and known for their $4 Belgian Waffles and coffee, but right now you can only get fresh coffee beans from them. Be sure to check their Instagram page for coffee bean updates. Get sweet tea and fried chicken with all the fixins from Southern Kitchen. If you’re feeling chilly and needing a little warm up Pho King has just what you need. Give into your sweet tooth and pick up some handmade sweets from a beloved Tacoma treasure, Johnson Candy Company.
If you’re in need of groceries, stores are considered essential. Safeway is just a couple of minutes away on S. 11th Street and Fred Meyer is located on the corner of S. 19th and Stevens.
You might be looking for local places to get outside for a bit and breathe in fresh air. The Sewell Park and Stanley Playfield and just 5 blocks away. Wright Park is much bigger and is very popular in the summer months as it has a free sprayground, playground and plenty of picnic tables. The amenities to this park are not available, but the loop is open. This 27-acre arboretum is home to a rich collection of more than 600 trees - stunning in both the spring & summer when they’re ample and bright green, and impressive in the fall as they change from green to all the fall colors. W.W. Seymour Conservatory is a community treasure, hosting events throughout the year and a rotating assortment of seasonal flowers.
