WHAT’S NEARBY?
With the Stay At Home order in place, there isn’t much to see and do at the moment, but we wanted to share with you what’s around this Tacoma home, so you’ll know what to explore when we can all enjoy the outdoors again!
Enjoy the fresh air and a round of golf at the Allenmore Golf Course - yes it is back open again! This 18-hole, meticulously maintained course sits in the heart of Tacoma. Only four people are allowed per group, reservations must be made and paid for in advance, and a handful of other policies have been put in place during this time to keep everyone safe. Please visit their website for changes and updates.
The clubhouse is closed at the golf course right now, so if you’ve looking for a place to grab a bite to eat afterwards, we recommend Burger Seoul, a Korean burger food truck just a couple blocks away on S. 19th Street.
The playground and splash pad are currently closed at Franklin Park, but if you need to get out for some fresh air, this community park is just minutes away and covers an area of more than 20 acres. There’s also a community garden that provides both physical and social benefits for people in the neighborhood. You can also find plenty of open fields to play in, a walking trail, ample parking, basketball park, a playground, restrooms and a picnic shelter. And on the rare occasion that Tacoma sees snow fall, this park has some mild hills that are used for sledding.
1.5 miles away is the Tacoma Nature Center (currently closed), along with Snake Lake Park - a 71-acre tract of wetlands & forest around Snake Lake, featuring trails & a visitors center. Check their website if you’re looking for nature events and exploring.
So close to 6th Avenue - full of businesses! Here you can get plenty of stuff to go, like MSM Deli (one bite and you’ll know why they’re called ‘Magical Sandwich Makers’!), Dirty Oscar’s Annex - They’ve got hashes, chicken fried steak, moco loco, stuffed pancakes and lots of things smothered in gravy to lift your spirits. And if you need your spirits lifted a little higher, they’re also serving cocktails, champs, mules and margaritas. Ice Cream Social thee place for all natural, homemade local ice cream you’ll take home by the pint full.
