WHAT’S NEARBY
If you’re looking to get outdoors close by, you’re in luck! Waughop Lake is about 2.5 miles walking/biking/driving. There’s a discovery trail, wildlife, and an adjacent playground - enjoy the Labyrinth near the start of the trail! This trail is one of many within the 340 acres that make up Ft. Steilacoom Park, the largest park in Lakewood. Adjacent to the lake is the Fort Steilacoom Playground that features baseball, softball and soccer fields, state-of-the-art playground, off-leash dog park, two picnic shelters and year round restrooms.
If you’re looking for adventures beyond your own backyard, Spanaway Lake is open year round and offers a good harvest opportunity for stocked rainbow trout. Spanaway Lake has some of the best fishing for rock bass in the area. The 135-acre park along beautiful Spanaway Lake is extremely popular with many year-round activities. Visitors to the park can explore a multitude of aquatic recreation opportunities, including two swimming beaches (no lifeguards), a boat launch, and a fishing pier. If you’d rather stay dry, there’s a new picnic area by the south swimming beach, ADA playground equipment with a seating plaza for parents and a new three mile trail system by Little Spanaway Lake.
Seeley Lake Park is another spot close by for outdoor adventure. It has a 47-acre natural area, a loop trail surrounding woods and wetlands, with lots of green seclusion for quiet nature strolls. In the heavy rain season you’ll see more ducks and marsh birds and it’s spectacular in the fall when the leaves change colors.
9 miles away you’ll find the Meadow Park Golf Course - a 100-year-old municipal golf facility for all ages and skill levels. It offers an 18-hole championship course, 9-hole course, and driving range for a simple day of fun or serious golfers.
The Lakewood Towne Center is less than a mile away for shopping, dining and entertainment - Safeway, Barnes & Noble, PetSmart, Office Depot, Pier 1 Imports, Famous Footwear, Cold Stone Creamery, Bed Bath & Beyond, Michael’s, Target, AMC Lakewood Theater, 24 Fitness, Panera, RAM Restaurant & Brewery, Old Navy and more!
