Spend a couple of hours at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. Here you can experience seeing moose eating grass out of the lake, newborn bison calf, herds of Roosevelt elk and mountain goats roaming the free area. Reservations to tour the park with your own vehicle can be made, though space may be limited. Or enjoy the Wild Walk Experience - Laugh as Hawthorne and Huckleberry, two young orphaned grizzly bears splash and play in their pool, listen as the high pitched whistle of the eagles draws you closer and if you’re quiet and still, you may get a glimpse of the gray wolf masterfully sneaking through the brush. There are over 40 species of native Northwest animals who call this park their home.

Head on over to Zen Ramen & Sushi Burrito. It’s a local favorite spot for a fun ramen experience in the greater Tacoma area. The menu offers full and bright flavors via ramen bowls, poke bowls, dupbap, sushi burritos and their appetizers

If you’d actually like to get up close and enjoy the pride of Washington with 14,410 feet of Mount Rainier, a Washington landscape icon versus your daily view out your windows, it’s easily obtainable - just an hour drive to get there. You can opt to drive slowly to enjoy the scenery along the route or plan a hike to look at one of the many meadows to explore the wildflowers that grow. Paradise and Sunrise visitor centers are the two most impressive places for wildflower viewing. The best day hike is to Snow Lake, just 2.5 miles round trip. In mid-summer, this area explodes with a variety of wildflowers and an abundance of bear grass. In the fall, mountain ash and huckleberries color the scene. Quite visible is a silver forest of trees which remain from a past fire. Expect good views of Mount Rainier on clear days. Just be sure to check weather, road conditions and best road routes before making the trek. There are 3 driving options to get there and all take just a little over an hour.
