"As always, we approach design with an eye on how to best maximize the opportunities presented by the lot. Taking into account views, micro climate, how we live both privately and how we socialize and present ourselves to the community. We wanted the house to be a statement. The exterior contemporary modern style isn’t overstated, but subtly and without pretentiousness has an identity that is unrivaled. Intersecting forms providing hierarchy and glimpses at what might be on the interior. The exterior blends itself into the interior in subtle moments that give the home a certain charm and identity that no others in Tacoma area have previously provided. This home was designed with the future owner in mind. Room for them to have privacy and plenty of opportunity to share moments together and enjoy the spaces, view, and fabric (train and Ruston waterfront activity) of the neighborhood together. Orientation of the rooms were crafted to take advantage of views and afternoon/evenings with naturally light filled spaces. The dining room affording more of a private space backed into nature while still providing filtered views through the Architecture setting the occupants squarely in the middle of the Architecture, whether they are cognizant of this or not. While the exterior presents a more masculine feel, the interior was crafted to balance this statement with delicate touches of colors, and tactile light fixture fabrics."
