“We’ve enjoyed this location because there’s a 1.5 mile walk to the beach at Puget Sound via the Sequalitchew Trail. There you can see sea lions, seals and the occasional orca whale. Several parks in the area but our favorite is through the trail entrance no more than 50 feet from our house, you can walk to a gorgeous park in the woods where the family can play and slide down a huge slide! Close access to I-5 makes it easy to go north or south to enjoy all Washington has to offer. Weekend mornings are great to drive ten minutes to Steilacoom where we would have breakfast at The Bair Drug and Hardware which is now a family owned restaurant.”

“When dining out nearby there’s a short walk that will get you to the FOB Brewing Co. The FOB is our local craft brewery. It is owned and operated by a local military family. Food trucks are a regular sight outside the FOB on the weekends. Downtown Dupont has several restaurants but our go to pizza spot is Bruceski’s. For a date night, we love getting dinner and drinks at Topside Bar and Grill. They have balcony dining that overlooks the Puget Sound.”

Just a 6 mile drive is the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually Wildlife Refuge - The wildlife refuge is home to the Nisqually River Delta, which has the unique status as Washington’s largest relatively undisturbed estuary and provides habitats for more than 300 different species of fish and wildlife and has several miles of hiking trails. Before trekking here, be sure to check their website though for any trail closures.

Just 10 minutes from JBLM North and you don’t even have to get on the freeway to get there! There’s a nice backroad to take so you can skip all of that I-5 mess.
