On rainy days, take it indoors to the Sprinker Recreation Center - for ice skating, hockey, tennis, racquetball, pickleball, ping pong, basketball, softball & baseball, and skateboarding - there’s something here for everyone!
Get outside at Gonyea Park, there’s a trail that connects to a reserve. This cozy neighborhood park has multi-purpose baseball, softball and soccer fields with play equipment, basketball courts, a hard surface play area and restrooms.
Or spend the afternoon at Debbie Dolittle’s Indoor Petting Zoo - the only cozy indoor petting zoo in Tacoma that offers hands-on animal encounters with sloths, otters, pony rides, camel rides, rabbits, turtles, goats, pigs, lambs, Zebu calf, an alpaca, capybara, birds, pacas and more! They also have a lot of fun events throughout the year too like Star Wars Saturday where you get to meet Jedi’s and train for galactic battle, Superhero Sunday - meet superheros and play with animals, and Fairytale Weekends - hang out with Elsa and Ana. Prices are affordable too, $12 for adults and $10 for kids, with discounted prices for senior and military members!
A popular spot for happy hour or dinner is Trapper’s Sushi, partly due to their all-you-can-eat sushi deal, but also because everything is fresh and delicious. They have your standard rolls, nigiri and some specialty rolls you won’t find anywhere else. The Blue Thunder is a nod to the Seahawks drumline - filled with spicy crab, cucumber and shrimp to mellow out the spice and topped with avocado, lemon slices and a blue masago. It’s definitely one of the most eye catching rolls on their menu with the many pops of color. Make it a date night and head to Paradise Lanes Bowling - for league bowling & no-reservations open play at entertainment center with an arcade, food & nightclub.
McChord AFB and Joint Base Lewis-McChord are close by too, along with the 512 onramp (providing access to I-5 and Hwy 167) for commuters.
