PNW Summer Bucket List

20 Fun Things to do Before Summer Ends

  1. Search for sea life at low tide at Titlow Beach Park or Day Island
  2. Attend a free outdoor concerts at Skansie Park on Tuesday nights
  3. Cheer on the Wednesday night regatta anywhere around Commencement Bay (we’d suggest packing a picnic and heading to Browns Point Lighthouse)
  4. Cruise the Olympia Farmer’s Market (open Thurs-Sun) 
  5. Paddle around Point Ruston at sunrise (or sunset!)
  6. Take a day hike somewhere close in like  Ptarmigan Ridge at Mt Baker or Capitol Forest! 
  7. Ferry ride to Vashon Island (walk or ride or drive on!) 
  8. Play some outdoor volleyball at Sunrise Park in Puyallup
  9. Fish for fresh Coho Salmon off the Les Davis Pier! 
  10. Ride a bike! In Tacoma it’s hard to beat 5-mile drive at Point Defiance Park; in East county, try the Foothills Trail
  11. Catch a Movie in the Park at Star Center  
  12. Attend FREE Third Thursday at Tacoma’s Downtown museums
  13. Boat to the Tides Tavern and order a Pound O’ Fries to go
  14. Go to a real drive in theater at Rodeo Drive In in Bremerton 
  15. Swim with friends at Bella Bella Beach on Fox Island (keep an eye out for orcas!) 
  16. Load up your pup and visit the area’s biggest dog park at Fort Steilacoom (or just wander the trails!)
  17. Pack your basket and pick berries (free!) at Charlotte’s Blueberry Park in Tacoma’s Fern Hill neighborhood
  18. Float your worries away with a lake day: Lake Tapps, American Lake, Spanaway Lake, or Long Lake in Lacey 
  19. Birdwatch & wander the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge (admission is $3 per household)
  20. Beat the heat at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma, which is always pay as you can!
