The House That Windermere Built | Habitat For Humanity

The house that Windermere Built

We’ve raised the roof and the walls in the house that Windermere built! We are partnering with several South Sound Windermere offices to build a house with Habitat for Humanity of Tacoma/Pierce County.

Our goal is to raise $75,000 for the construction of this home, and this past weekend some Abodies were there to help out with raising the walls for our townhome in Habitat for Humanity’s latest neighborhood; Madison Meadows.

How You Can Help

If you’d like to make a financial contribution and help us reach our goal, click here. You can also help out by volunteering your time & labor. We have volunteer opportunities on April 27 and May 18, so keep your calendars open. Follow this link to sign up for volunteering.

We are particularly excited to partner with Pierce County Habitat For Humanity because they have recently switched their model in hopes of creating permanent affordability for would-be home owners. Learn more about Habitat’s mission and what’s new by visiting their website.

About Our Partnership with Habitat

At Windermere, we believe that everyone deserves a home, and we are committed to doing our part to drive change and make access to home ownership equitable. Home ownership is a pathway to building generational wealth and stable communities.

For too long, home ownership has been kept out of reach for many Black, Indigenous and Communities of Color. We seek to redefine home equity, deploy a data-driven strategy, intentionally reduce barriers for historically excluded populations, and work proactively to generate new opportunities to home ownership for historically underrepresented and marginalized people.

We are excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity and in doing so aim amplify to amplify the incredible work they are doing to create sustainable, affordable housing options in Pierce County.

*UPDATE*

As of July 2023, we have officially met our goal of raising $75,000 for Habitat for Humanity!

For the last 18 months, our brokers have been donating a portion of each closing into the Windemere Foundation to the benefit of Habitat for Humanity. A special thanks to the other South Sound Windermere Offices who collaborated on this project!

Despite reaching our fundraising goal, Windermere’s house at Madison Meadows is still under construction. If you’d like to join us for a build day, our next one will be July 26th from 8:30 to 3:30. Come and have some fun and help us make a lasting impact on the lives of deserving families in our community!

You don’t need any construction experience to volunteer; Habitat’s team helps supervise and train everyone who wants to participate. Volunteers must be over 16, and can sign up here: http://windermeress.tacomahabitat.volunteerhub.com
