Two miles away, you’ll find Wapato Park - an urban park featuring a woodland area, a lake, walking trail, plus a historic pergola full of stunning and colorful. Wapato has a number of trails that you can walk to explore the park, including one circling the lake that is approx .9 miles in length and you can’t beat the beautiful setting of the lake and forest. It’s best and most popular feature though is the off leash dog park! The off leash dog area has a smaller area for pups under 25 pounds, a space for larger pups and an upper dog area for all dogs. The park also provides waste bag stations and garbage bins to help keep the park clean. Water is also available for the pups, there’s a water faucet and bowl.

Get the wiggles out at the Arlington Elementary Schools Tot Lot. There’s an open field for play, colorful play area complete with multiple ways to slide, swing and climb. In addition to the main playgrounds, a set of swings, two Rhapsody® drums, four hillside slides and a Omnispin® Spinner. The hillside slides in particular make this playground unique to other schools in the area. The 5-12 playground structure includes a Canyon Climber, GeoPlex® Climber, a Gyro Twister® and more!
Stretching between South Park and Oak Tree Park, South Tacoma’s Water Flume Line Trail offers the things that multi use trail fans love. This 2.5 mile (one way) trail connects to other trails and is great for walkers, joggers and cyclists! Some upgrades were made to this trail in 2016 that included a shared-use path for bicycles and pedestrians, ADA compliant curb ramps, new storm drains, pedestrian crossing marking, a traffic signal upgrade, and trail user amenities pedestrian level lighting, benches, signs, and bike racks.
