Hispanic Heritage Month is here and will take place from September 15th through October 15th. A time to recognize and honor the cultural contributions and legacies of the Hispanic and Latinx communities. This celebratory holiday was established in 1968, initially as just a week, and later was expanded to a full month in 1988. This period of beginning and ending in mid months was chosen to coincide with the independence anniversaries for several Latin American countries. Across Washington, community members from all backgrounds will be coming together to celebrate and learn more about Hispanic and Latinx culture through music, literature, dance, and more.
