FROM THE SELLERS ABOUT THE HOME, NEIGHBORHOOD & COMMUNITY
“The morning light that fills the house while birds chirp outside. It’s a quiet, peaceful home. The backyard is very large and a wonderful place to spend time.
The neighborhood is quiet, friendly and diverse. Connie’s local donut shop is 2 blocks and always filled with neighborhood regulars. Stewart Heights park is fun with a skatepark and pool. And Wapato park has a play area and lovely walkable loop around the lake. This home is pretty centrally located so access to any of the freeways is great, including Mt. Rainier.
Gari of Sushi, Vien Dong and Vuelve a la Vide are all nearby and popular places to eat.
The rhododendron and camellia out front bloom a couple of weeks apart in the spring are both beautiful. There’s a pear tree out back that fruits every other year (next being 2020). Each surrounding neighbor is friendly and quiet.”
Hello summer! A major recreation attraction for Tacoma’s east side and south end is Stewart Heights Park. This park is most known for its large outdoor swimming pool and water slide in the summer months, but this park also features updated playing fields, skateboard park, and playground.
There’s a ton of shops and dining along Pacific Ave, but you really don’t want to miss out on some light, fluffy and delicious donuts at Connie’s Donuts & Espresso. Her donuts are almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Whether, you have a hankering for an apple fritter, something cream filled (she’s got 6 tasty filled options!), or just a simple cake donut, Connie’s has something for everyone, and reasonably priced too! If you’re worried about all those calories having a donut shop so close to home, it’s only a minute away.
There’s a spacious Mexican establishment serves up ample plates of classic entrees in a casual upbeat setting less than a mile away - Vuelve a la Vida. There’s a reason why this neighborhood eatery has so many reviews online!
Have a hankering for authentic sushi, salads, tempura, teriyaki and more? Then you’ll love being close to such delicious food at Gari of Sushi! Traditional rolls & sashimi, plus some unique rolls like the mermaid which is topped with seaweed salad. They also have a large vegetarian selection of rolls that are often hard to find. Everything arrives looking like a well crafted work of art.
Where else can you dine out? The Lincoln District is just minutes away! The Lincoln International District is an incredible blend of historic buildings and cultural diversity and has a high Walkscore and just went through a recent remodel! On the corner of S Yakima Ave and S 38th St is Vien Dong – an authentic Vietnamese, family owned restaurant that hits the spot with their delicious pho, curry and noodle dishes! If you’re craving a burger, shake and fries – you have two to choose from and they sit across the street from each other, Jubilee Burger and Burger Ranch. Both equally popular and delicious. Another popular eatery in this neighborhood is Uncle Thurms Soul Food, where “All Our Dishes are Delicious.” Choose from a simple, authentic menu of all your Southern favorites — and if you’re a late riser on the weekends they serve breakfast until 2 pm. And last, but certainly not least of delicious places in the Lincoln District is El Zocalo Tortas and Bakery. The smells that waft out of here are incredible and will lure you in!
Two and a half miles away, you’ll find Wapato Park - an urban park featuring a woodland area, a lake, walking trail, plus a historic pergola full of stunning and colorful. Wapato has a number of trails that you can walk to explore the park, including one circling the lake that is approx .9 miles in length and you can’t beat the beautiful setting of the lake and forest. It’s best and most popular feature though is the off leash dog park! The off leash dog area has a smaller area for puppers under 25 pounds, a space for larger pups and an upper dog area for all dogs. The park also provides waste bag stations and garbage bins to help keep the park clean. Water is also available for the pups, there’s a water faucet and bowl.
