Historic Ansonia Condo

219 N Tacoma Avenue N  ·  Tacoma, WA

2 Bed
0 Sq Ft

Listing by NWMLS / Windermere Abode

Designed as luxe apartments more than 100 years ago by local architects Heath & Gove. At that time the Stadium district was a stop on the streetcar line -- soon it will be served by light rail! It also has one of the highest Walk Scores in Tacoma, with great shops, services & eateries nearby. All of the Ansonia units were carefully restored in 2008 and this is one of the largest floor plans. Building amenities include an elevator, fitness room, guest suite and shared deck.

This unit is unusual because it has it’s own outside entrance (as well as an interior entrance for access to building amenities). This means you can come and go with minimal contact with other owners, as well as have a larger dog than is allowed in other units. This condo is currently rented, with a lease through August of 2021.

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 1.75 bathrooms
  • 1,541 square feet
  • Built in 1915
  • Street parking
  • Offered for $399,000

You can’t beat this location - walk out the door and you have a beautiful slice of of the water! Also, you’re situated right next to Stadium High School, once noted as the “most beautiful high school in the country.”

The Stadium District has one of the highest Walk Scores in the city, and you’ll enjoy the convenience of nearby restaurants and amenities even during Covid. Everything you need is a 5-10 minute walk, including the dry cleaner, auto repair, the bank, groceries and more! Sometimes I’ll go an entire weekend without getting in my car.

When dining out, you still have great choices, including Indo Asian Street Eatery and their neighbor Moshi Moshi. On the weekends, you have to get brunch from Art House Cafe (we recommend the house made sausage or stuffed biscuit!). If you prefer a traditional greasy spoon, check out the Harvester. A few exciting new additions to the neighborhood are Zen Sushi and Burrito, Pint & Pie and Gilman House.

Get your caffeine fix at family owned Tacoma Java or step into Anthem Coffee & Tea for an affogato or perfectly steeped loose leaf tea. Get fresh produce, deli items and beautiful floral arrangements from Stadium Thriftway.

Wright Park is ideal for a leisurely stroll or a quick jog, and is very popular all year round. This 27 acre arboretum is home to a rich collection of more than 600 trees - stunning in both the spring & summer when they’re ample and bright green, and impressive in the fall as they change from green to a deep orange and red during the autumn foliage. The Conservatory is now open by appointment, and is a beautiful respite from the city.

The city is currently working on an expansion plan for the Tacoma Light Rail, with construction finalizing in 2022. This project will more than double the current length of the 1.6 mile line ending at the Tacoma Dome Station and will reach new destinations like the Old City Hall, the Stadium District, Wright Park and the Hilltop communities. Check here for link updates! If you commute north and want to skip driving you can catch the Sounder Train at the Tacoma Dome Station northbound to Seattle – it’s convenient, cheap (about $5 to ride) and less of a hassle than sitting in I-5 traffic for events or commuting!
