Day Island Wall is an incredible wall dive due to the sheer enormity of the sandstone wall. Though relatively flat, it has many small creatures living on the face of the wall itself and wolf eels can frequently be found in caves at the base or in the shelves at the top of the wall. The bottom runs about 85-110ft with most of the wall being to the left of the entry point if entered from shore, making a great local spot for Scuba divers.

Or perhaps you and your guests would enjoy a day at the beach; The Titlow Beach Marine Preserve - home to Titlow Park which is perfect for the most incredible views of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, evening walks along the 1.3 mile beach front and forest route and some splendid sunsets. This is also a haven for kayakers for an easy launch and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some playful seals and occasional orca pods. The newly installed Titlow Park Sprayground is a summertime favorite to splash, play or cool off and is free to use! If you’re looking for a place to grab a bite to eat, you can dine in or get a to go box of some delicious halibut fish and chips from Steamer’s Seafood Cafe or a delicious scoop of ice cream Locals are also a fan of the Beach Tavern their comfort bar food, beers on tap and sports viewing.

What else is nearby? You can look forward to being just 4 miles from the Chamber’s Bay Trail & Golf Course - The trail head is 3.25 miles round trip and with a nice incline. Chamber’s Bay Golf Course is one of the top courses in the nation and the first course in the Northwest to welcome the U.S. Open Championships. Their onsite restaurant – The Grill offers a nice weekend brunch and sunset dinners. They also have special events throughout the year like Easter, Mother’s Day & Father’s Day brunch. You can also easily access the Chamber’s Bay Park - open field with picnic tables and the Playground by the Sound - Fenced-in playground helps keep the kiddos from roaming. The equipment is nicely maintained and varied; swings, tunnels, slides and monkey bars. There’s a shaded picnic area on a concrete slab. One table is completely covered and the other is open, plus a few more tables out in the grassy areas. The bathroom is across the field, but is close.

There are also a series of short trails that are located within the Chambers Creek Canyon Trail. All trails are primitive in nature and allow people to experience a true urban forest setting. Watch for our deer and coyotes; they call the canyon home. Future plans call for an extension of this nature trail system, providing improved trail heads and linked trail segments.

For groceries, dining and other needs, you won’t have to go far. Most everything is just a few minutes away. Locally owned and operated Harbor Greens is 3 minutes away off Bridgeport Way. They have a great selection of local & hard-to-find specialty items, an in-house butcher and a full-service deli with gourmet sandwiches are really good pizza that you can eat there or take to go. Just 7 minutes away is the The University Place Town Center where you can shop at Whole Foods for natural & organic grocery items, housewares & other products, get coffee and more at Anthem Coffee & Tea, Top Pot Doughnuts, check out 80,000 books, movies, audiobooks and more at the University Place Library, grab small batch ice cream at Bliss Ice Cream, get wraps and subs at Jersey Mike’s Subs plus more shops coming to this popular area!
