The City of Tacoma attempted to get ahead of the housing shortage in 2018 when it relaxed the Accessible Dwelling Unit (ADU) regulations. Fast forward to 2021, and we take another look at what the process looks like first hand from Luke Shadduck, a client of broker Jenny Wetzel and someone who knows city code quite well; he reviews Tacoma building code for a living!
In September of 2020, the city of Tacoma Planning and Development department provided this update on the permits and what has taken place since the changes in regulations. Dave and Luke speak on the updates, what has taken place, and Luke's experience building a detached ADU (DADU) from an existing garage structure on a city lot.
This is an informative listen whether you're fighting affordability, a real estate agent, or someone looking to build an ADU on your existing lot. Listen in!
