This podcast is the first of a series of Black History Month Reflections with local black and brown professionals in and around Tacoma. We're bringing conversations that we often have in private, out in the public. Be a fly on the wall as Dave chats with these great individuals as we wrap up Black History Month 2021.
Bernadette Ray is the quintessential Tacoma native. She graduated high school, and college from the city of Tacoma, and now is a principal at Wilson High School. In this episode we talk about growing up as a bi-racial child, the role race plays in identity, and making headlines with the recent name change of Wilson High School after learning about Woodrow Wilson's (who the school was named after) racist past.
