When the pandemic hit and so much was uncertain, changes hit quickly for the world and our communities. People were rapidly furloughed or lost their jobs all together, thus impacting resources and housing for many. Our office began thinking of ways that we could help community members who were struggling. We created an opportunity for not only ourselves to stay involved with folks, but also to get other involved too.

This podcast is the first of a series of Black History Month Reflections with local black and brown professionals in and around Tacoma. We're bringing conversations that we often have in private, out in the public. Be a fly on the wall as Dave chats with these great individuals as we wrap up Black History Month 2021.

On Giving Tuesday, we are reminded of what it takes to make a healthy community, and we do our best at Abode to embody that. With the help of the Windermere Foundation, we have been able to support and give to the Women of Color Collective, Emergency Food Network, Food Backpacks for Kids, and Next Chapter.

By shopping with your locally owned small shops, more of your money is kept in our local economy which keeps local jobs available, helps the environment (less fuel and packaging!) and encourages entrepreneurship.
